Teaching Philosophy
While in college I am a physical education major and a health education minor. With this I want to teach in a high school and coach soccer as well. In my classroom I want to enrich the lives of my students. I can do this by teaching them and instilling the life long lessons of how to live a very healthy and fulfilling life. I can do this by teaching them lifetime sports such as golf, tennis, and swimming. With these sports you can use them throughout your whole life. This is great because you will be able to keep having fun exercising even if you cannot do certain strenuous workouts. Within my classroom I will try to use a variety of teaching skills to make sure that each student can understand what I am teaching. I know that there are many different types of learners such as visual, written, and kinetic. My classroom will hit all these types of learning techniques. In my classroom I will also have a lot of alternative activities such as outdoor recreation. These activities can be anything from snow shoeing to biking. Many of these skills are not touched by most physical education departments, but with changing times the students must learning how to get exercise in a cheap or even free environment. I want to really emphasize how great this earth is for us and how no matter what the weather is like outside, you can still go outside and have a great workout. Also I want to give my students tips on eating healthy, by telling them what foods they should look to eat and why they should eat these foods. As a teen we build habits that we keep with us our whole life. I believe that by starting these habits in the high school years the students will be able to carry these habits throughout there lives.
